Hi there, Maddison here, I'm a British designer/maker based in Essex and I create all the beautiful pieces you see within the site. As well as working with wire to create one-of-a-kind jewellery, and the odd sculpture, I also make my own clothing and teach dressmaking classes locally. I appear to obtain skills much in the same way you might collect badges at Brownies or Girl Guides, my sash may look full but there's always space to learn something new. I am an experimenter and regularly look for new materials and techniques to try.
I like to think that the pieces I make have a casual sophistication to them, providing a subtle statement which can be carried from day through to night. What I strive to provide my customers with is the ability to look fabulous every single day.
Being brought up in a creative environment, the majority of my younger years were spent learning to knit, crochet, cross-stitch and use a sewing machine, thus beginning my creative journey. My grandmothers taught me these skills from a young age and opened my mind to the possibilities of other crafts and knowledge. After the birth of my son I borrowed a sewing machine from my Nan and turned all my cross-stitch projects into finished items, including bags, cushions and so much more.
To further my journey I completed a National Diploma in Fashion Design at college, and undertook a Bachelors Degree in Fashion Design at The University Of East London. I attended a short course for Jewellery basics and couldn't stop myself from continuing with it so also added an Advanced Diploma in Jewellery Design to my repertoire.
In June 2017, I completed a PGCE in Fashion and became a teacher, sharing my knowledge with the next generation. I have had Textiles students gain Distinctions at GCSE and seen many a garment completed at my evening classes too. For more information on classes, please visit the Classes Tab.
